Commenting on the day
Peter Blaine and Nigel Aldis in Sandy town centre on Monday 28th March
'We simply asked people whether they wanted to pay Council Tax, or see a fair tax based on what people earn. The result was fantastic. In a short period we collected 4 sheets of signatures in support.'
These will be sent on to Tony Blair, to continue the pressure to scrap the most unfair tax in Britain.
Stephen Rutherford with Local Support
' We would be delighted if the government listened to what people are saying. If they took on the Liberal Democrat policy for Local Income Tax we would be happy that yet again the Liberal Democrats have won the argument. However, it looks like both the Conservatives and Labour would keep the Council Tax, while the Liberal Democrats offer the real alternative.'
