Steve Rutherford - Campaign Message
As we start the final week of the campaign I want to ask for your support in the general election.
I am delighted to be standing for the constituency in which I live.
I am proud of our record in opposition. Liberal Democrats have made all the running on Council Tax. We have stood up to the government when it mattered most: on tuition fees; on civil liberties; and of course on Iraq.
I am also proud of our manifesto. The message is simple: Quality public services; paid for by fair taxation; From a government you can trust.
Crucially, everything is fully costed
I also believe an honest party should say what it is going to do before the election, have the same policies at the end of the campaign and then put those policies into practice if it wins.
Liberal Democrats have a track record of being honest and consistent, where both Labour and Conservative parties have been sadly lacking.
Britain needs an alternative. The Liberal Democrats are that alternative.
